Letsgoloolala with Lily Anne
An Evening with Friends of Friends
The hosts are from Brittany but have built a house in Argeles sur Mer close to Perpignan. They were there with their 20something daughter and another couple. I arrived with Béa and Leo. What a welcome! Folks took off their shoes and seemed instantly at home. My fancy plum tights that I bought only weeks ago in M&S already had a hole in them, a little bit embarrassing for me…I decided to keep my shoes on but after a few glasses of wine…

The Menu
Choice of wine or pina colada
Entrée Delicious anchovy paste( a local speciality) and black pudding
Wild Boar (Sanglier) with vegetables
Dessert: fresh fruit laced with rum
Cheese platter
It was obvious that the company was a close knit group of friends. The hosts and their daughter made a great team: everyone had prepared a dish. The wine and the conversation flowed effortlessly. There was a lively exchange on many subjects including current perceptions of the Corona virus, water sports and travel. The young girl had worked in New Zealand. Later there was a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of married life versus single life. There was some attention given to the ‘for and against’ of living together or retaining separate houses and various degrees of togetherness and independence. Somehow at one point the conversation turned to the subject of female versus male personal habits, even the subject of flatulence. This caused an eruption of spontaneous laughter.
