House Share in Perpignan

I shall start right here, right now in Perpignan France. I’m living in a house built over 100 years ago with Béa, Gollum her cat and her ami de cœur Leo. Why join me? Pourquoi pas? Learn or recall a few phrases in French. If for any reason you are housebound, experiencing a holiday cancellation or the fund or mood is low, this could be fun. How did I get here? It may sound daft but I have used the http://www.daft.ie site many times at home in Ireland so I researched the equivalent in France (that means I asked a French person I know.)

This is my ad.  Within two weeks I had found a gem. Already I feel at home in an exciting new place.

Cherche colocation ou un appartement indépendant dans le centre de Perpignan Avril Mai & Juin 2020. Je suis une écrivaine irlandaise qui souhaite améliorer le français

Looking for a house share or an apartment in the centre of Perpignan April May and June 2020. I’m an Irish author who wishes to improve my French.

I got here on 2nd March on a ryanair flight. At customs my 10k case was opened for a random peep. Sure it was full of books, all with the same title and all by the same author. The official became less official as he scanned the author’s name and asked ‘Could this be you?’ Well it was all smiles after that.

I arrived in Toulouse airport when winds were so high the captain did the wise thing and soared upwards again until things settled. Some may have prayed but no-one seemed to panic. When I got to La Gare Matabiau, I spoke with a gentleman. ‘Bonjour!’ I said ‘Où est l’ascenseur s’il vous plaît? Where is the lift please?’ – he  looked quite normal to me but in seconds he transformed into superman, carting my 20k case up and down stairs while I managed the other 20k in two parts.

My new home for the next four months is full of charm.  What is there not to like about stained glass, tiled floors, a spiral staircase and plenty of nooks and crannies. I love it! Je l’adore!
